KAWS UNVEILS NEW ROBOT-FORM COMPANION IN HANGZHOU

Giant Osmanthus Glow: KAWS Takes Over Hangzhou’s Historic West Lake with a 30-Metre Robot COMPANION

In a striking fusion of contemporary pop art and traditional Chinese landscape, KAWS brings a brand-new iteration of his iconic COMPANION to Hangzhou. From September 24 to 27, 2026, a colossal 30-metre-long reclining sculpture will take over Orioles Singing in the Willows, one of the historic Ten Scenes of West Lake.

Rendered in a futuristic robot form, this giant figure departs from COMPANION’s traditional monochromatic palette with a soft, warm yellow hue inspired by Hangzhou’s native osmanthus blossom. Positioned along the lakeside gazing up at the Mid-Autumn moon, the installation builds a surreal dialogue between contemporary street art culture and serene, centuries-old heritage.

Presented by AllRightsReserved in collaboration with local partner WESTLAKE 66, the four-day outdoor pop-up continues KAWS’s signature global tour, reimagining public space as a playground for modern art and innovation.
