Jennie Headlines the Soundtrack for Netflix Animated Feature “Steps”

K-pop icon Jennie of BLACKPINK is entering the world of animated cinema with her first-ever original film soundtrack contribution. Featured in the main trailer for Netflix Animation’s upcoming comedy adventure Steps, the artist lends her vocals to the lead track, titled “Someone to Hold.” Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, the film offers a modern reimagining of the Cinderella narrative, centering on stepsisters Lilith and Margot as they break from traditional fairy-tale tropes to navigate sisterhood and identity.

Written and produced by Grammy-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter, “Someone to Hold” is described as a vintage-inspired organic dance-pop anthem that anchors the movie’s musical lineup. Alongside Jennie, the soundtrack features original contributions from Amanda Seyfried, Rose Gray, and Emei, paired with an orchestral score by Academy Award winner Kris Bowers. Scheduled for worldwide release on November 20, Jennie’s venture into film music underscores how global pop figures are increasingly shaping narrative storytelling across international animation.
