A Sea of 380,000 LEGO Flowers Transforms Tank Shanghai into a Botanical Installation

At Tank Shanghai in the West Bund art district, The LEGO Group has unveiled the LEGO Blooming Exhibition, anchored by a monumental outdoor installation comprising over 380,000 hand-assembled botanical bricks. Stretching thirty meters long and covering eight hundred square meters, the massive “Botanical Wave” appears to pour directly from the industrial oil tanks, creating a striking visual contrast between brutalist concrete architecture and vibrant floral design.

Running through late October, the public art experience extends indoors with eighteen original works created by contemporary artists combining LEGO brick elements with metal, textiles, and mirrors. Visitors can build personalized LEGO blooms that are digitized on a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree screen, linking physical craftsmanship with interactive digital art. The installation demonstrates how global lifestyle brands are utilizing large-scale public art to activate urban cultural landmarks across East Asia.
