Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster have reunited for their fourth collaborative eyewear collection, exploring the radical philosophy of “Deconstruction.” Slated for global release on October 29, 2026, the 68-piece collection, comprising 43 sunglasses and 25 optical frames, dismantles familiar spectacle silhouettes to position raw structural distortion not as an ending, but as the origin of new aesthetic possibilities.
The collection plays with extreme contrast and tactile experimentation: exaggerated, face-concealing volumes appear alongside narrow, upswept profiles, while select frames feature crushed shapes or tight leather wrapping for a second-skin effect. Maison Margiela’s iconic four white stitches return across the temples, taking on a floating appearance over the edges of slimmer frames. To accompany the drop, filmmaker Alex Prager directed a cinematic campaign capturing a 10-minute dash through an ever-shifting urban landscape, supported by immersive pop-up spaces in eight international cities, highlighted by a movement and space performance in Seoul by choreographer Damien Jalet and artist Ian McMahon.
